July 27, 2010 Honorable Fran Iwanski Chief of Police Kissimmee Police Department 8 North Stewart Avenue Kissimmee, FL 34741 Dear Chief Iwanski, I hope all is well with you and your family. I appreciate meeting with you recently to discuss various agency related issues involving our PBA members. It has come to our attention that your agency is considering the implementation of a new work schedule for your officers. Additionally, it is alleged that your officers are being told that the PBA has endorsed said changes in these work schedules.
After thoroughly discussing this issue with my staff, I believe there must be a misunderstanding. In fact, the PBA does not endorse any changes to your officers’ work schedules unless the agency abides with the PBA Collective Bargaining Contract for the Kissimmee Police Department, specifically Article 10. We also received feedback that these work schedule changes are possibly being made to address internal department issues involving employee behavior and supervision. If this information is accurate, please provide any data that would justify changing work schedules for the aforementioned purposes. I encourage you and your staff to contact my Chief Negotiator, Steve Micciche regarding these and any other issues affecting your employees who we serve as our members. Thanks and stay safe. Best Regards, John Park President Central Florida PBA |
