Final Tattoo Policy Information PDF Print E-mail
After further review of GO 331.0 - Appearances, Uniforms and Equipment, and specifically the section that addresses body ornamentation, the PBA recognizes that the modifications in the final draft are substantially more liberal than what was first proposed by the Sheriff's Office. We appreciate the Sheriff taking into consideration our recommendations and modifying the language of the General Order, especially after our meetings and discussions regarding same.

While we had hoped that the "liberalization of tattoos and branding" on the arms would have been extended to the legs as well, after conversation with you that no deputy currently on the bike patrols or Ag/Marine would be in violation of the proposed policy, the PBA does not object to the implementation of the rule effective after receipt of this communication. We appreciate the opportunity to influence the final draft language as the policy as first discussed would have had a very negative effect that both the PBA and the Sheriff's Office would have had to weather.

Note from your CFPBA leaders:

The CFPBA leaders gave our best effort to modify the so-called tattoo policy. We made some significant policy changes for the better in spite of case law in favor of the employer regarding tattoos and body ornamentation. Thanks to all involved in this issue and we hope to continue to improve the OCSO's Appearances, Uniforms and Equipment policy in the near future.
