Amount of monies that Sheriff Demings gave back to the County PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 March 2011

The PBA's financial analyst finally got all the info he needed from the OCSO to calculate the amount of monies that Sheriff Demings gave back to the County using the OCSO’s own audit statements.

- In 2009, the Sheriff gave back $2,121,180
- In 2010, the Sheriff gave back $3,776,512 (in excess of a half million dollars more than they told us they had given back in 2010)

Total money returned in 2 years - $5,897,692

Nearly 6 million dollars is more than enough money to fund a step increase … and then some. So while the OCSO cries poor mouth … instead of looking out for the troops, they have decided to play politics.

Please keep in mind that the OCSO leaders have said from the beginning and continue to say that Sheriff Demings is doing this to "bank" favors for a rainy day in the future. We don't know how much Sheriff Demings thinks he needs in the "bank" but we are confident the troops would rather take the money incrementally instead of waiting for some pie-in-the-sky raise that may or may not be forthcoming.

More info coming as we get it …
