Governor Charlie Crist Vetoes State Employees' Salary Reduction

Governor Charlie Crist signed the 2009-2010 Budget into law today, but not before vetoing the salary reductions to state employees. The Legislature delivered a budget to him that unfairly reduced salaries for employees earning over $45,000 per year and who did not work for the state university system. After multiple meetings with the Governor and his staff to make PBA's case for a veto, he agreed with PBA President John Rivera and PBA Executive Director David Murrell that reducing those salaries was unfair to hardworking loyal state employees. Governor Crist issued his veto order just before noon on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.

We are thankful to Governor Crist for his continued support of our causes and issues. Once again, he has shown that he is truly a friend of law enforcement, correctional and correctional probation officers.
